Scope of the Scholarship
Three scholarships are awarded every year in order to foster and encourage training in Plastic Surgery across Europe. These Scholarships provide a one or three month experience to be spent in a European department of plastic surgery, or in a centre run by a EURAPS active member, included in the list of Institutions.
Eligibility
Candidates must be European citizens (Eastern European Countries included) and have obtained the specialty in Plastic Surgery (or Board). The maximum age is 37 years. Evidence that candidates have not had their 38th birthday must be submitted (photocopy of passport).
Application
The following documents must be sent to euraps@eurotraining.it before December 1st, each year:
1. Letter written by the candidate indicating the purpose of his/her visit and the Department(s) where he/she wishes to spend the Scholarship
2. C.V. + proof of thesis (ISBN-code, if available)
3. Letter of recommendation from the Sponsor (EURAPS Full Member) illustrating the choice of candidate
Selection
A four-Member EURAPS Committee, appointed by the General Assembly, will consider and select the most worthy applications.
Conditions
The scholarships must be completed before the end of the following year, and must be spent in a European department of plastic surgery, or in a centre run by a EURAPS active member, included in the list of Institutions.
The EURAPS Secretary General will write to the head of the Institute(s) to be visited, recommending the successful applicant(s) after the award is decided at the annual meeting. All the recipients are expected to attend the EURAPS Annual Meeting of his/her nomination, to be awarded during the Social dinner. There will be one-month scholarship of € 1.500 or three-months of € 3.500 available. The first half of the allowance will be paid before the commencement of the scholarship, while the second half will be paid upon receipt of a report (formatted according to the Euraps template) from the recipient and co-signed by the host of the Institute, sent to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee and to EURAPS Secretary General at the end of the visit.
The best scored candidate will give a 4 minutes presentation with regard to his/her educational experience at the next Euraps meeting during Friday lunch-break session. In case the above mentioned requirements have not been fulfilled, the whole or second part of the stipend will not be paid.
