25th EURAPS Annual Meeting, May 29-31, 2014 in Lacco Ameno, Isle of Ischia, Italy

dear Colleagues and friends,

Traditionally the EURAPS Scientific Committee meets in the middle of January after the scores of the eighteen reviewers have been collected. Two weeks ago at the Meeting of the Scientific Committee a great scientific program has been put together for the 25th EURAPS Annual Meeting in Lacco Ameno, Isle of Ischia during two intensive working days here in Vienna. Out of 238 submitted abstracts 83 papers with the highest scores could be selected for the program. An interesting panel on eyelid surgery will be moderated by our President Grazia Salimbeni. Further on the program will be enriched by the first Daniel Marchac Lecture, which will be given by Francoise Firmin on “The Reconstruction of the Ear”.

This year the number of submitted excellent research papers was very high and not all could be included into the program, although we put some presentations on clinical research to the clinical sessions. The authors of the abstracts not accepted for the scientific program of the EURAPS Annual Meeting should take the chance of the next weeks to submit their abstracts to the EURAPS Research Council.

I would like to remind you that the 3rd EURAPS Research Council Meeting will be the days before the EURAPS Annual Meeting, May 28-29, 2014. It will be held at the same place and submission of papers is still open until March 1st, 2014. Please use the website of the EURAPS Research Council (http://research-council.euraps.org)!

It is time to plan your stay at the wonderful congress site in Lacco Ameno, Isle of Ischia. Please, be aware of the deadline of early bird registration: March 1st, 2014. You will find all information on registration, booking accommodation, transport etc. at our EURAPS website (http://www.euraps.org/meetings). Online registration is possible until May 18th, 2014.

Fabio Santanelli di Pompeo prepared for the first time an own “EURAPS App” for this EURAPS Annual Meeting and the EURAPS Research Council Meeting. We are glad to announce you the release of this extremely useful official “EURAPS App”, developed by the diepflap.it Medical Software. It represents a complete offline source for all EURAPS web site content including also all informations concerning the program of both meetings, the 25th EURAPS Annual Meeting and the 3rd EURAPS Research Council Meeting. It is a universal (iPod, iPhone, iPad) iOS App that you can download for free on the Apple App Store.

The local host, Fabio Santanelli di Pompeo and his team are preparing a wonderful meeting next to Naples at Lacco Ameno, Isle of Ischia. We will have a high standard scientific program. There is enough reason to participate in this upcoming EURAPS Annual Meeting. Please, keep in mind that participation in the Annual Meetings is a duty of all active EURAPS members! We are looking forward to meet all of you there!
