EURAPS YOUNG PLASTIC SURGEON SCHOLARSHIPS

Scope of the fellowship
  There are six scholarships available in order to foster and encourage the training in Plastic Surgery in Europe, through a one or three month fellowship in a European Centre of Plastic Surgery (see Institutes) or in a department run by a Euraps member.


Eligibility

 

Candidates must be European citizens (Eastern European Countries included) and have obtained the speciality in Plastic Surgery (or Board). The maximum age is 37 years. Evidence that the candidate has not had his/her 38th birthday must be submitted (photocopy of the passport).


Application
 

5 copies of the following documents must arrive at the Euraps Secretariat, Dept. of Plastic Surgery (G 04.122), University Medical Center Utrecht, Heidelberglaan 100, NL-3584 CX Utrecht, The Netherlands before 1st December 2007 :

1. Letter written by the candidate indicating the purpose of his/her visit and the Centres where he/she wishes to spend the scholarship.
2 C.V
  + proof of thesis (ISBN-code, if available)
3. Letter of recommendation from the Sponsor (Euraps Full Member) emphasizing the reason of his choice of this particular candidate.


Selection
  A four-Member Euraps Committee, appointed by the General Assembly, will consider and select the most worthy applications.

Conditions
 

The scholarships must be used up before the end of the following year.
There will be one-month and three-month scholarships available in 2007. The amount is €1.500 for the one-month scholarships and € 3.500 for the three-month scholarships. The Scholarships will be paid in two distinct phases: half before the commencement of the fellowship and the other half at day 45, upon receipt of a report (2.000 words approximately) written by the host of the Institute to the EURAPS Secretary General and considered satisfactory. In the case of a negative report, the second part of the scholarship will not be paid. Notification of the winners will be sent to the sponsor and the candidate before 31st December of the same year.
The EURAPS Secretary General will write to the head of the Institute(s) to be visited, recommending the successful applicant(s).


Supervision
  Recipient(s) of the EURAPS Scholarship will be supervised by the head of the Institute who will prepare two confidential reports about the candidates attendance and interest on the Institute's activity, to be sent to the Secretary General of EURAPS and to the Sponsor, the first one at day 45 and a second one at the completion of the fellowship.
