The EURAPS Meeting itself with 325 participants showed again that EURAPS not only provides a platform for high level scientific work but also creates an atmosphere of camaraderie, friendship and informality, unique for this type of meeting.
Needless to say that the Opening Ceremony will be remembered for the wonderful performance of our Past-President Francoise Firmin. Our new President David Soutar will have a hard time to match this next year.
At the opening ceremony we welcomed ten new members and provided three young plastic surgeons with a fellowship. This year we could not find an eligible candidate for the Hans Anderl Award. The HAA Committee, together with Hans Anderl, decided to adapt the rules, making it more attractive to apply for this prestigious award in the future.
The new members scored the presented papers and voted for Pietro Berrino to present his paper: “Lipostructure in Breast Reconstructive Surgery” at the next AAPS Meeting in Rancho Mirage,
Next year we will organize the 20th Annual Meeting in
Because two decades of EURAPS should receive some special attention we will strive to bring about the official affiliation with JPRAS accompanied by a publication about the history of our Association in this journal.
EURAPS needs more young, eager and promising people to join the ranks of our Association. During the General Assembly it was accepted to change the number of years for membership after qualification as a plastic surgeon from five to three.
According to the by-laws this has to be proposed at least three months before the next Meeting to the members so they can vote during next year's General Assembly.
